THE VET
By Candace Nola
FROM CHRISTINA CRITIQUES: Camilla is a kind, big hearted town vet that cares for animals with every cell in her body. Some of her farm “pets” do not understand how to behave and must go through training to relearn before they earn their release. Brutal, 100% cathartic, and one of Nola’s best shorts to date, THE VET will not disappoint. A HIGHLY RECOMMEND 5/5.

THE GOD ANOMALY
By Henk Wester
FROM CHRISTINA CRITIQUES: A side story in the Cosmic Anomaly universe Taylor and three of his friends get bored one night and decide to go to an Uncle’s farm to see if they can find anything strange. Well, a cult of nutters would definitely rank as strange. When the friends are found, each friend will face the cult. A quick, brutal story from Wester and one not to be missed. A RECOMMEND 4/5.

CEMETERY DAYS
By Patrick C. Harrison, III
FROM CHRISTINA CRITIQUES: Clara doesn’t want to help clean up no dumb cemetery at eight years old but when her crush Allen is waiting for her, she gets a little more excited and gutsier. Then a curmudgeonly old man goes and shoots at something in the forest, it won’t be the only thing bleeding that day. PC3 has us feeling emotions again with this short hit. A HIGHLY RECOMMEND 5/5.

HUNGER
by Ruth Anna Evans
BY BESONEN BREAKDOWNS: An excellent story about the importance of animals, I really enjoyed the narration and the tale of meat. I adore the theme presented with this one, 5/5 stars.
I listened to this on YouTube under "Godless Reads". I must give major props to Drew Stepek. Godless owner, for shouting out the band Skinny Puppy in the intro, that alone should make you want to give it a listen!

QUIETLY DROWNING
By Todd Love
From Christina Critiques: The main character is on the run. She is covered in blood but is having problems remembering what happened. When her car runs out of gas, she must make a decision that will not only affect her but others as well. Love writes such heartbreaking stories in so few pages. This is definitely a favorite of mine. A HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND 10/5.

XORCISE ME
By Lucy Leitner
From Christina Critiques: Host of a podcast, Tim Richmond, talks to guest, Cody Kessler, owner and inventor or Xorcise.me. Told in a transcript form (a personal favorite of mine), Cody explains the product, the genesis, and the controversy surrounding it. Is it a help or hindrance for those who are demon possessed? I mean, vessels. Leitner takes on a quick, insane look at marketing, naivety, and the downright ignorance so prevalent in society today. A HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND 10/5.

THE ULTIMATE MONSTER BEATDOWN EXTRAVAGANZA
By Matthew Vaughn
From The Mort Report:
You reach a point in your life where your sense of humor develops enough to be beyond the silly and juvenile. Where sophistication and quality is much funnier than stupidity. This is not that book, though. And I am not sure how the author pulled this off, but I was laughing my ass off at things I wouldn’t find funny normally. So, while feeling completely conflicted, I have to give this story 5 stars for entertainment value.
5 Stars.

LIES WITH MONSTERS
By Grammatico
From The Mort Report: This had a real noir feeling to it, up until the end. Take a tabloid journalist and a porn star…you get the picture. Rather entertaining if you just go along for the ride and don’t overthink it – read it for fun.
4 Stars

CRAMPS
By Shannon Bradner
FROM CHRISTINA CRITIQUES: Leonard Jefferson has it all, the perfect wife (after some retraining), the perfect staff (a little fear can be a motivator), a thriving restaurant he manages, and a healthy appetite for food and life. What happens when his misogyny may put him in a very sticky situation? Another win from Bradner. Now I need her to write a novella! A HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND 5/5.

THIS IS WHERE WE TALK THINGS OUT
By Caitlin Marceau
FROM BESONEN BREAKDOWNS: A title draws me in, when I saw this one, I knew I'd be reading it. A tale about a psychotic parent's manipulation and mishandling of grief, I found myself quickly engulfed in what would happen next for the daughter. Crafted well, I was frustrated and terrified throughout, and the ending drove those feelings nail deep, 5/5 stars.

KISS ME WHERE IT SMELLS FUNNY
By Eric Butler
FROM RACHEL RATES: Oooo, this was a brutal little tale! What happens when that disgusting urban legend turns out to be a bit more real than you bargained for? Short and full of violence; the perfect kind of read for a day you’re short on time! 4/5

BONE BOX
By Ezekiel Kincaid
FROM BESONEN BREAKDOWNS: A fun, short tale about voodoo. I would have liked the dot expanded upon and what is within explored. Overall, I liked it. I listened to this on YouTube under "Godless Reads" and it is currently the only place you can find it. It is free, check it out! 4/5 stars.

THE BREAKUP
By DE McCluskey
FROM BESONEN BREAKDOWNS: Who doesn't love when a relationship ending results in bloodshed? I found the flashback narrative a cool angle and enjoyed the narration. I listened to this on YouTube under "Godless Reads". You can find the non-audio version of this in the "In Uterus: Anthology for a Friend." 4/5 stars.

LIZZIE BORDEN...
By Ash Ericmore
FROM CHRISTINA CRITIQUES: Liz Borden is back from Hell thanks to three dumb dumbs who didn’t close the portal to hell. When she thinks maybe the Amityville house will let her leave with an extra kill or two, the night becomes bloody and much more Satan-y. Ericmore gives us spice, gore, and giggles with this quick hit. HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND 10/5.

SEXORCISM
By Matthew Vaughn
FROM CHRISTINA CRITIQUES: What do you get when a female priest performs exorcisms in a not so conventional way? A lot of body fluids and … other stuff. This one did made me sad though. Vaughn’s writing gets grosser and stronger with every story. While only coming in at 14 pages, you get more than your monies worth. HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND 10/5.

THIN SLEEP AND BLACK THREAD
By Todd Love
FROM BESONEN BREAKDOWNS: The first story was a gross tale of absolute Horror, a river of bodies should tell you enough about it and let you know if you're interested. The second, which was a poem, was pretty neat, I enjoyed the way it was written and how immersed I felt reading it. Give these a go before bed. 5/5 stars.

MOGWAI
By Simon McHardy & Sean Hawker
FROM CHRISTINA CRITIQUES: What happens when you have a really messed up sexual addiction and get offered sex of a lifetime? Now, imagine the best sex of your life with a more than willing participate but you can’t … have a happy ending in the participant because it can cause horrible repercussions. But… also, what happens if you do? Read this short, insane banger (ha) and find out. Mchardy and Hawker sure know how to raise the bar about 9 feet, 11 inches. A HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND 10/5.

VENUS
By Candace Nola
FROM CHRISTINA CRITIQUES: When a chance meeting with a celestial being changes Millie’s and Sarah’s life forever as well as some less than upstanding citizens, justice will be served with many “arms” of the law. Nola weaves a body horror/creature feature with rich imagery and pure catharsis. Watch the skies and read this short story. A HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND 10/5.

SEXED UP SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK
By The Professor
FROM CHRISTINA CRITIQUES: A clever and always spicy reimagining of the SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK for the 18+ crowd. Enjoy picking up a new possible kink or two with this alphabet filled drabble collection. The Professor consistently gives us a breath a fresh air to read while making us gasp in ecstasy and clutch our pearls. (Also, I now, I want a pet alligator, iykyk.) A HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND 10/5.
