Ivan K. Conway is one of the most supportive authors on Instagram. He has his own Facebook Group, Goblins & Gunslingers Country, where he posts some book stuff, daily dad jokes, and other truly terrible memes. He's a great guy, kind and friendly, and deserves way more notice and thanks for all he does, than he gets. Today, we are spotlighting him here and look for his blog post to go live tomorrow for wide social media sharing!

Meet Ivan K. Conway!

1. Q: Introduce yourself in 4 sentences or less.

A: Hello, everyone! I’m Ivan K. Conway. I’m a fantasy and horror writer based in Montana, USA. Pleased to meet you all!

2. Q: Describe your style of writing in 2 sentences or less.

A: I typically like writing stories with plenty of dialogue and just enough exposition to paint a picture in readers’ heads. I tend to do the opposite when writing epistolary horror, though.

3. Q: What’s your favorite type of horror to write?

A. Been having a lot of fun writing epistolary horror lately. However, I enjoy writing supernatural horror in general.

4. Q: What is your favorite book or character you’ve written so far?

A: Every book has a special place in my heart for one reason or another. My favorite would have to be Goblins & Gunslingers: Bad Blood, though. I spent five years writing it with ideas and characters that have been in my head since high school. So, I’ve gotten a bit attached.

5. Q: Who are your top five favorite authors?

A: Stephen King, JRR Tolkien, Christopher Paolini, Garth Nix, Junji Ito.

6. Q: What inspires you to keep writing when imposter syndrome hits the hardest?

A: Having deadlines (whether self-imposed or set by anthologies, magazines, etc.) helps a lot. Usually keeps me too focused on the task at hand to let doubt creep in.

7. Is there a genre, sub-genre, or trope you’ve not written, that you’d like to try?

A: In my free time, I’ve been experimenting with a cosmic horror noir novella. Never written anything in either the cosmic horror or noir genres of that length before.

8. Q: What is your hope for your writing career over the next five years? As in where do you see yourself?

A: My current hope is to have built up sufficient skill and credibility by that point to be writing stories for either an indie or mainstream publishing company.

9. Q: Pitch your current WIP in 3 sentences or less.

A: A family’s frequent visits to their cabin take an unsettling turn as sinister cultists begin transforming the surrounding woods.

10. Q: Where can we find you online and where can readers see you next?

A: You can find me on Facebook, Instagram, Goodreads, and (far less frequently) on YouTube. I submit short stories to various publications as often as I can. Check out my social media posts to see the latest literary projects I have the honor of being included in.

Bio: Ivan K. Conway wrote his first book at four years old using crayons and construction paper. Yet it was only after graduating from college that he finally chose to share his tales with the world. His work has been included in numerous anthologies (including the award-winning Curbside Curses). Ivan’s own collection, Crop of Cadavers, is currently available at Amazon and Barnes & Noble. You can find the writer himself on Facebook, Goodreads, and Instagram.
