FOR THE GAMERS
ONLY YOU ARE HERE
Only You Are Here is a first-person adventure puzzle game developed by Omol Game Studio and published through Kids Games LLC with its most recent release update in June 2025. In the game, you are an unnamed character trapped in a dream and looking for a way out by searching for four keys to a special exit door. As you make your way through the dream, you are met with various memories interspersed with nightmare scenarios perpetuated by a hooded, faceless ghostly figure.
The figure appears in pictures, outlined in scratches on walls, reflecting in mirrors, and floating ethereally in your path. Your character is very aware that they’re in a dream and that they need to get out, but their mind is stuck within narrow passageways and flooded rooms, bouncing in between train cars and what appears to be an artist’s home or school. There is forever a mystery encircling you, and your task is to solve the various puzzles that lead you to freedom from your own mind.
You truly are the only real character in the game, aside from the ghost chasing you around. Rather, the horror is much quieter. The environment squeaks and static emit from old audio devices with no discernible reason for working. Central to the puzzle-solving is an elevator that is guided only by a set of nine switches that must be pushed to go to various floors. The game is linear, so anything revealed or returned is part of the forward-moving process. There is little wasted in the way of storytelling, and despite the rough graphics and my lacking the ability to speak or read Russian (there are English subtitles), the overall malaise is captured really well.
The game doesn’t grip you with many jump scares, gore, or even a supernatural force–only the guilt and existential dread that exist in your mind. Occasionally, there will be something in the environment that startles you, but paying attention to the bleak mental world of your nameless character is far more important and enjoyable. There are five endings to the game, and I have unlocked only one, so I am looking forward to the replay value. Â
Only You Are Here is available on mobile devices for a nominal fee to remove ads. It’s a hidden gem, so check it out!
