Happy Saturday! We are nearing the end of September, and so far, it's been an awesome reading month. Today I'm coming in hot with SIX books to rave about! Per usual, I loved them all, so let's get into it!

A pink background, a haunting, blood-smeared face looks up in terror, mouth wide open, with dark black and red splatters. The title is above the figure's head.

HEE HAW

By Peter Caffrey

"For Hee Haw, things were different. The world was a psychedelic cosmos, a vibrant place in a constant state of flux. In such a space, he was free to expand, and his destiny was one of notoriety, of infamy. His name would be mentioned in hushed tones by those who understood the true depths of his dreadful capabilities."

I keep saying it, but I have become a huge fan of Caffrey this year. Everything I have read by him has been an easy five stars. HEE HAW is no exception. It might be my favorite by him, so far. I absolutely loved this book. It was one hell of a ride. Mind binding in ways I didn’t see coming. When I first started reading it, I said to myself, “Oh, okay, we’re gonna do this.” Then about 5-10 pages later, I found myself saying, “OHHHH, WE’RE GONNA DO THIS!!”

Caffrey created not one, but two iconic characters in this story. The MMC and the FMC will live rent-free in my head for a very long time. Their development and how things start versus how they end is just mind-blowing. Kidnapping is terrible, but I will say, be careful with who you choose as a victim… or you may become the victim. This is truly what happens when you FAFO with the wrong damn person.

This story is brutal from start to finish. It’s bizarre. It's violent. It’s twisty. And I cannot recommend it enough. I know people see kidnapping and can get weary with triggers, etc., but this is one that I promise is worth it. The ending is top-tier, and again, the twist from the FMC is incredible. It isn’t often that I reach out to an author after reading a book, but I definitely reached out to Caffrey when I finished this one because I was so impressed and enjoyed it that much.

It’s available using the link below, and bonus, it’s available on KU!

Synopsis:

When Colin, a middle-aged fantasist and loner who lives with his parents, snatches a girl he finds in the woods, things quickly start to unravel. While his intention is to act out his most depraved fantasies, something about the girl unnerves him. Who is the mysterious Alice, and why does she make him feel so uneasy?

As he learns more about her, he finds himself thrust ever deeper into a world of darkness and duplicity. What is real, and why is he, the abuser, feeling so vulnerable?

Hee Haw is a dark, psychological horror, in which nothing is quite what it seems.

THE EXCRETORIST

By Reekfeel

"There is always an Excretorcist in the neighbourhood. Fallen Angels. Tramps in the dust. They live the outcast life – Hermits and true Saints. Beggars and foul ones. When the job gets dirty – get the Excretorcist in. And here they are."

I have been wanting to read more bizarro, and Reekfeel was an author that kept being recommended to me, so I decided to give THE EXCRETORIST and its sequel (review below) a try. WELL, bizarre it was. Weird… SO WEIRD… in the best ways possible. The writing style was super unique, and I fell in love with it instantly. This was the perfect “read in one sitting” story and just superbly unhinged from cover to cover. It was exactly what I needed in my life at the moment.

I highly recommend this to everyone. There’s a reason this author is consistently dropping Godless bangers that I see everywhere!

Synopsis:

Long in the annals of Catholic liturgy, withheld, prohibited, now released – THE EXCRETORCIST. What is beyond Exorcists? What is above Sexorcists? Answer… Correct – Excretorcists. It gets sloppy, it gets religious, it gets insane. You better believe it.

THE EXCRETORICST RIDES OUT

By Reekfeel

"And that is certainly enough to get the old goat fascinated. Satan loves a bit of blasphemy bukkake, loves a bit of bestiality. After all he is the master of goat sex, old Baphomet, old Mendes. And appear. And appear. And here… POOF!"

Okay, so this is the sequel to THE EXCRETORIST, which is the book I reviewed above. And ahhhhh, this one is just as wild… if not wilder!! So incredibly unhinged and bizarre. I mean that in the best way possible. It is definitely extreme as hell, but you will also get some giggles out of reading it. The writing style hit again for me, so I am a full 10/10 for this deviant madness. Both this and the first book are only around 15k words combined, so I don’t want to give too much away. But yessss, HIGHLY recommend this one as well!!

Synopsis:

The sequel to THE EXCRETORCIST. The closing and end story of the Excretorcist’s endeavours.

It is straight after the events of Book 1 and see the beginnings of the Excretorcist. And the end conclusion of his war with THAT demon.

What you get – sexy Succubi, perverted Popes, the Devil and his tricky deals, Ninjas, more Excretorcist possession madness, and PIRATES!

There’s a new type of exorcist in town, and this one is EXTREME.

9,000 words.

HEIRS TO THE DARK WEB

By J. Boote and Lesley A. Camphouse

"While his mind told him it was vile and evil, the devil’s work, his heart whispered to him a murmur of enjoyment, a desire for more."

Holy Hell. This book was brutal. It starts extreme, and it does NOT let up… ever! It’s a wild ride and definitely won’t be for everyone. But if you don’t have triggers and are into stories about the dark web, THIS IS THE ONE! (Side note: There’s zero animal cruelty in this book despite how extreme it gets.)

Boote and Camphouse really collaborate well together. I love it when I can’t tell which author is writing what parts, and that’s what happened here. They matched each other’s energy, and it shows in the best ways possible! The characters were all done really well. There were twists and turns and WTF moments that I never saw coming. My jaw dropped way more than once. I gasped more times than I typically do… I may have clutched a pearl or two, even, lol. But ahhh, it was fantastic. It’s a full-length novel, so there’s a super solid story mixed into all the depravity.

I honestly have nothing but amazing things to say about this book, and if you’re looking to challenge yourself to see how far you can push, this is a great book for that. This is also great for people looking for books about the dark web. This was my first time reading something by Camphouse, but certainly not my last—and I’ve been a fan of Boote for a couple of years now, so 10/10 for both. I would love to see these two team up again!

Synopsis:

From the authors of the Monsters series and Ingest Me & Apex Prey comes Heirs to the Dark Web.

Nate’s family is highly religious, so when his father commits a terrible sin, the backlash forces them to move elsewhere. Nate starts at a public school and is quickly targeted by the school bullies. But on his first day, he meets Jamie, another kid often taunted and bullied by the boys and girls. They hit it off straight away.

But Jamie is resentful. Coming from a toxic household, his mother often drunk and flirting with all the men in the area, Jamie dreams of better things. A life where he is in control, where he can get his revenge on all those who have abused him physically and emotionally. Then he stumbles upon the dark web, specifically the hurtcore scene, and his life is forever changed.

With the help of his gullible new friend, Jamie is going to unleash all his pent-up anger and not only earn a fortune in the process but become heir to the dark web. And no one will stop him...

This is an extreme horror novel. All TW apply. 18+

UNSEEN GODS

By Justin Holley

"A tricky thing, though, the Devil. It would try and disguise its work through manipulation, misidentification, hoping the truth would come too late. The only chance any of them ever had against an adversary so bloody was sacrifice. So, sacrifice the solution would be. The end."

I have to start by saying that barely a week before I even started reading this, my algorithm shifted to showing me posts about chaos magic/magicians, etc., and I was beyond confused. So, when I started reading this story, and chaos magic kept being a theme, I knew it was a sign! (You can judge me, lol.)

This was such a great and well-rounded book! I don’t do a ton of supernatural horror books like this, but I am so glad I gave this one a chance. Holley did a phenomenal job at setting the scenes and making them very atmospheric and creepy at times. The characters were all done really well, and while it was heavy on dialogue, Holley nailed it from cover to cover.

There are some violent scenes, of course, but there’s so much actual story that it’s the perfect balance in my opinion, and a great read for all horror readers. This is also a great read for those who favor folklore, possession, and the supernatural!

Synopsis:

Careful what you search for, you may just find it. With grotesque glimpses of the disappeared, the past is alive and well.

After winning an old casefile at auction outlining the disappearance of a hunting party back in the nineties, Kory and his pregnant wife invite their friend and mentor, Professor Frank Colista, and others, for a casual long weekend of exploring the mystery onsite with very little hope of finding anyone or anything. When one of their factions disappears without a trace, Kory and Colista fear the past may repeat itself. Then the deaths start. As a savage, unexpected snowstorm sets in, the disappearances and ungodly sightings of the deceased ramp up, and an old woman rambles about end-of-days and sacrifice.

This book releases on October 14th. Preorder it using the link below!

THIS ISN'T WHO WE ARE

By Stuart Bray

Marly Maddest- “Please shut the fuck up and let me write the story how I want. I’m sure Danielle and Jason will tolerate the story regardless of how bad you think it sucks.”

It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Stuart Bray. I’ve read 99% of his published work. I love it all. But this book? This. Is. The. One.

Bray did something wild here. First of all, the plot? Ridiculous. Insane. Depraved. This story will have you questioning your own sanity. Not only did Bray do something wild, but he also did something he’s never done before. Prose? Superior to anything he’s ever done. This man inserted HIMSELF into the story, as a character, and essentially wrote it as though a reader with a crazy story to tell is writing it. It’s also written in an interview fashion, which he executed beautifully. There’s the perfect balance of violence, back and forth in the interview, and the story of the MMC.

I think a lot of times we forget that authors often times put themselves in a real weird place mentally in order to tell the story they want. And the average reader wouldn’t really know this or see it firsthand. I bring this up because I’ve watched it happen in real time. I saw it happen while this book was being written. And it shows through every word on the page. So again, I wanted to bring this up for the readers… so when they read this book, they can almost be mindful of that. Because in my opinion? This is Stuart Bray’s best book to date. It was just released yesterday and is available on KU, so definitely grab it asap!

Synopsis:

Marly Maddest is a deranged psychopath, but what made him that way? That's exactly what you're about to find out.
