Welcome to Latham's Last Words, where I give you my last words on books I've enjoyed. This post is going to be some books that I think more people should be talking about.

One Grimm Night by Chad Nicholas

No question about it, this book gets 5 big stars.

Grimm's fairy tales like you've never read before. One night, six people in a cabin on a stormy night in the forest. Little by little the characters' identities are revealed. Little by little the secrets and traumas of the characters are revealed.

I want to go on and on about the story, but I'd spoil it. You can feel the tension building as the storm rages on. You can feel the weight of the characters' pasts. You can almost taste the fear.

The illustrations at the start of each chapter added a whole other level to the eerieness of the story. The author made a great choice to have them in the book.

Dead Scalp by Jasper Bark

If ever there was a book that made me want to use gifs as my review, this would be it. Stunned. Shocked. Revolted. Pretty much sums up my reaction to what the menace was in this book. I have NEVER read anything like this before, and quite honestly I don't think I want to.

It's gruesome, some of the scenes had me breaking out in goosebumps. Yikes!

At the core, this is an amazing splatter western that incorporates Navajo folklore. Highly recommend for lovers of splatterpunk.

Dusk Bunnies by Terry Miller

Vampires and wererats and Nocturnals oh my!!

Now this is a vampire story with bite! A rapid fire story, there's not a single lull in the action. It's bloody, but not super heavy on the gore. You get vampires, wererats, a werewolf and a creature new to me, a Nocturnal.

I loved all the characters, not a single one did I dislike. James I thought of as the comic relief. He was just so nonchalant about his situation it made me laugh. My favorite character was Michael.

The story took an unexpected turn that I loved. What a ride once the twist was revealed.

The battle at the end was top notch and the perfect way to end the story.

But, it left me wanting to know who exactly are the Garrison brothers??!
