10-29-2026 Latham's Last Words: Halloween Books

Welcome to Latham's Last Words! Since it's Halloween week, here are some Halloween books I've enjoyed!
Halloween Night At The Whorehouse By The Cemetery by James Oliver
A ridiculously gross and disgusting zombie story. And not your typical zombies, these zombies are hungry for flesh extremely randy!
A cooky, quirky, horny cast of characters versus a horde of lecherous zombies. The gore is over the top, but that honestly made the story that much more hilarious.

Trick! And Other Halloween Horrors by RJ Daly
You can't go wrong with RJ Daly, and this collection of Halloween tales is perfect for spooky season.
Turned To Black
There's so many ways this story of revenge could have gone. You're left wondering what the point of the story is and then BAM it knocks you over the head with a grusome set of Halloween party games.
Trick!
Teenagers up to no good on Halloween night meet a demon that's hungry. This story was really a treat!
The First Thursday in October
Wow. Out of all three stories this was my favorite. The way Daly described how Jennifer was not able to figure out reality was making me doubt what I was reading. The way he described her complete isolation and the way humans react to being alone for a long time was terrifying. And then the ending. Yikes!
Great collection!

The Dark Side of Hell by Patrick C. Harrison III
What. Was. That???
I don't know if I have adequate words to express what I felt about this book. It's disturbing, vile, over the top bloody with a supernatural element. I want to say it's like The Hills Have Eyes does Halloween with the family that inhabits The Dark Side of Hell. A depraved, insane, sadistic family that has a secret in the basement.
The Halloween dinner scene with Mother was gag inducing. But at least they served candy corn, so there's that.
And I really want to know WHY DID MAMIE PUT IT IN HER POCKET???!! (You'll have to read the book to understand what I'm talking about.)
5/5 rotten candy corn
