Today's breakdown is for "Do Not Go In That House" by Ruth Anna Evans:
Manic depression and a haunted house with a bloody past, what could go wrong? As a reader who sees the words play out scenes in my mind, the first chapter's brutality held me without hesitation. As it progressed, the momentum kept up and delivered an ending I was hoping for but didn't expect. This was my introduction to this author, but I'll be back for more Evans titles very soon! She also creates some great book covers, so be sure to give her designs a look too.
As a writer myself, this line really hit home for me:
"It always astounded her how sane she could sound in writing when her brain was spinning out."
