Uncomfortably Dark Horror and Black Moon Poetry are celebrating the release of a brandy new book of poetry, and I've reviewed it to join the fun. Cheers!

Book Review: Molotov Cocktail Hour by M. Ennenbach

Molotov Cocktail Hour, a collection of poetry by M. Ennenbach released by Blood Moon Poetry and Uncomfortably Dark Horror is filled with interesting word play. The collection begins with a bold statement. “Be it art or chaos, make your stamp on the world or at least leave a scar.” This poet embraces the manic aspects of the mind and explains it’s a part of the artist. Some of the work is political, explaining “A patriot doesn’t sit and watch as the melting pot burns into toxic sludge.” Throughout the work, cultural mentions include Kafka, Bukowski, and Debussy, with a perspective of viewing the void and a longing to believe. Some repeated descriptions include calling the body a meatsuit, a fear of scarring beauty, and a nihilistic fear. Some word combos I enjoyed included “aspire to asphyxiation” and “indigo aspirations.” Some of the imagery created is bleak, but threaded through is a longing for hope.
