Title: CRAMPS! A PERIOD PIECE

Directed by: Brooke H. Cellars

Country: US            Run Time: 89 mins

Synopsis: A young woman must choose her own path but her uterus makes a few decisions for her.

Favorite line: “I don’t drink that hippy swill.”

“Put a curse on them.” “I’m a Satanist. Not a witch.”

Thoughts: Cellars brings it with CRAMPS! From the commentary of patriarchy to loyalty, self-discovery melding with self-love, the viewer is taken on a journey of womanhood. Can it be scary? Yes. Gross? Hell yes. Rewarding? Absolutely. Plus, this rag tag cast of characters make the journey feel just like the sisterhood you always needed.

Actor to watch for: Agnes - Lauren Kitchen

Title: CREAMSTYLE

Directed by: Bob Rose

Country: US            Run Time: 5 mins

Synopsis: What happens when your heart tells you one thing and your mind another?  What if that happens to be in regard to creamed corn?

Favorite line: “Don’t eat the corn.”

“I am cream corn Steven.”

Thoughts: From my extremely professional notes, “What. The. Fuck. did I just watch.” Somehow I was both cringing from the repulsive sounds (not bad but gross) and laughing hysterically because it’s just pure insanity. I don’t know if I will be able to eat corn ever again.

Actor to watch for: Bob Rose

Title: SPIRAL

Directed by: Henry Bock and Nick Tiffany

Country: US            Run Time: 14 mins

Synopsis: A couple decides to take the big step of a new boyfriend meeting the brother. Unfortunately, things get a little … hard.

Favorite line: “This is really ableist of you.”

“He has a disability and probably cancer.”

“Don’t you dare touch his penis. Again.”

Thoughts: The absolute twists and turns (no pun intended) had me cackling like an old witch who just bamboozled a pair of idiot kids. Between the brother and his repelling demeanor, the viewer is confused… until they aren’t. I loved this one so much because of the sheer insanity of it.

Actor to watch for: All three main characters

Title: WHAT IF WE KISSED ON THE OPERATING TABLE

Directed by: Sydney Mills

Country: US            Run Time: 14 mins

Synopsis: A woman goes in for a procedure that will change her physically forever.

Favorite line: “This is about creating a new version of you.”

Thoughts: This one made me cock my head in confusion but that isn’t a bad thing. The set design and special effects are the true standouts in this film. The sterile scenes in tandem with the blood and unsettling behavior of the characters, just add to the experience of this body horror film.

Actor to watch for: Patience - Scarlett Pomers

Title: HELIOLIFT

Directed by: Tyler Council

Country: US            Run Time: 8 mins

Synopsis: The bra all the way ”turkey tiddies” women in the world have been waiting for.

Favorite line: “Just tell me and my fucking hopeless, saggy bra about it.”

“Heliolift. It ruined my marriage but saved my life.”

Thoughts: A collection of testimonials for a new bra that we didn’t know we needed. The acting is over-the-top in the best of ways and the characters are 100% not to be trusted.

Actor to watch for: Tommy and Candace

Title: SEVERED

Directed by: Megan Duffy

Country: US            Run Time: 12 mins

Synopsis: In a world of missing appendages, finding on isn’t out of the ordinary. But what happens for those who have them all until one day…

Favorite line: “People lose fingers every day.”

“You think the news is out to get you?”

Thoughts: A cross between comedic genius and social commentary, Duffy kills it with this one. Beautifully shot, perfectly acted, and twelve minutes of pure fun. (Side note: the line: “… finger safe spaces, support groups… ‘Finger Free Fridays’” had me cackling.

Actor to watch for: Abby - Megan Duffy

**A TOP TEN TO WATCH**

Title: TELEXXX

Directed by: Johnny Massahi

Country: UK            Run Time: 9 mins

Synopsis: When the TV is so hot you can’t keep your dick in your pants…

Favorite line: “Don’t you like what you see?”

“It’s not what it looks like!”

Thoughts: What a weird fucking movie but I loved it so much. Massahi has a vision and boy is it a blood one. It’s clever while being steeped in social commentary and satire. The most fascinating aspect was how grimy and sticky the film made the viewer feel. Stellar.

Actor to watch for: Old man - Laurence R. Harvey

Title: HOUSECAT

Directed by: Kyle Spleiss

Country: US            Run Time: 14 mins

Synopsis: “Baby Girl” needs money and when the perfect acting job comes along, she would be crazy not to take it.

Favorite line: “Look at that belly. I’ll have to call you El Gordo.”

Thoughts: Oh, Spleiss got me with this one for sure. Just when the viewer thinks they have it figured out… BAMBOOZLE! The setups for later payoffs are so brilliant in hindsight and the acting from both “house cats” are phenomenal. The “Ope” I said out loud was louder than I expected.

Actor to watch for: “Baby Girl” - Katy Wicker
