Happy Saturday! Today, we take a look at a piece of furniture that terrorized a family. So, this one is a bit of a mash-up between a Haunted Object and a Haunted Location. Regardless, buckle up, things are about to get super freaking strange.

This is a wild one that had me in a tizzy. There’s a lot of information, but also not a lot of information. But what we do know is that things get really weird when Allen and Debbie Tallman decide to buy bunk beds for their children. I really don’t even know where to start with this one. No place better than the beginning, I suppose. So, let’s take it from the top!
In April 1986, Allen and Debbie Tollman purchased a house for their family. They had three children, one boy and two girls. When they first moved in, all was well. Then, in February 1987, the Tollman’s purchased bunk beds for the two girls at a second-hand shop. This is when everything goes rogue.
When they first brought the bunk bed into the home, they stored it in the basement. This is when things began to happen. They started becoming ill with mysterious illnesses. They even had the home checked for mold, etc., but everything came back fine.
Eventually, they put the bunk beds in the girls’ bedroom, and older brother Danny slept in his own room. The first night in his own room, Danny noticed that the radio clock’s dial would move on its own. This made him feel really uncomfortable, especially since his parents kept brushing it off. He began refusing to even sleep in the room.
Shortly after Danny began experiencing things, their daughter began having her own experiences. She would tell her parents about seeing a witch with red eyes and the flames of a fire. The daughter was young, so Allen and Debbie concluded that she had an overactive imagination, given her age. THEN, Danny, who allegedly didn’t know the details of his sister’s visions, claimed he also had the same visions. This is when Allen and Debbie began raising their eyebrows.
Soon after, Allen begins having his own questionable experiences. His mood changes drastically, he becomes agitated way more easily, and he starts finding and seeing things too. The first being one of the basement windows on the floor, with no explanation.
One night, Debbie brought Allen to the hospital for an infection. The children's grandmother came to stay with them. According to her, she was woken up from a nap by a pair of red eyes staring at her in front of a window. THIS is when the activity REALLY starts to pick up, and EVERYONE in the family starts to see these glowing red eyes.
Things really started to intensify. The kids would claim to see a shadowy, witch-like figure standing where the bed was placed. Allen heard his name through the baby monitor one evening, which he described as being so clear that he checked the entire house for an intruder.
Chairs started sliding aggressively across the floors, doors slammed aggressively, and the voices became increasingly aggressive. Especially after Allen “challenged” it. He came home late from work one night and noticed there was smoke in the garage. But when he went to find the fire, there was none, and allegedly a voice growled “COME HERE” followed by the garage door slamming shut. (NOPE, I would simply pass away.)
So, after all this happened, the Tollman’s are under the impression that it’s the house that’s haunted. They called their reverend to come over and bless the house, hoping that it would remove anything evil and that things would be good. WRONG. The reverend came into the house and told them to remove the bunk beds. Even he was like, NOPE, when it came to the item. They took the bunk beds down and put them back in the basement, but this did NOT help stop the activity.
They fled the house in the middle of the night after another crazy occurrence of seeing flames, fire, smoke, and hearing disembodied voices.
After fleeing the home and leaving everything they owned there, they refused to return unless someone from law enforcement or the church was with them. They refused to do any media or interviews because they wanted to keep their kids out of the whole thing.
Growing concerns amongst neighbors started when they began claiming to also see flashing lights at the house, despite no one living there.
Not long after, Unsolved Mysteries, which was a brand-new show at the time, decided to reach out to the family. They agreed to do the show where they featured the bunk beds. After the show, the bunk beds were destroyed, and it is still unknown where the location is. But the Tollman’s advised that nothing would ever be built on top of where it is.
Eventually, the house was sold, and no other claims of paranormal activity have been reported!
So, tell me. Have you heard of this location /object before? Have you been there / seen it? Would you go? Let me know in the comments. And as always, if you do decide to visit here or any haunted location, respect the property, respect the owners, respect the residents... living or dead.
