Happy Saturday! Spoiler alert, today’s books were all easy five stars for me! I bring you some Eric Butler , which you can never go wrong with, two Reekfeel stories, and one by Angelique Jordonna—one of my favorite women in horror! Oh, and three out of four of these can be found on Godless! That being said… enjoy!

THE BARGAIN

by Eric Butler

“Only a fool isn't terrified of that old woman. She pulled her shawl tighter around her shoulders and entered the woods. Guess tonight, I'm playin' the fool.

My goodness. I’ve read quite a bit of Butler, but every time I read something by him, I feel like I need to read more. He’s such an amazing author and I truly enjoy his writing style and plots so much. I always enjoy how his stories are pretty character-heavy, in the best way possible. For me, it really makes the stories come alive. THE BARGAIN might be one of my favorites by him. I was slightly introduced to the story when reading THE FULL THROTTLE anthology, but I could never have expected the expansion that took place in this bad boy. I often say I wish anthology stories were longer, and Butler said, “Hold my mountain dew, I got this,” and he sure as hell had that!

Butler is also one of the only authors to give me nightmares with his stories. I haven’t admitted this yet, lol. But THE BARGAIN has given me several. He has made me absolutely petrified even considering a camping trip or hike in the woods. Hard pass. No, thank you. He also did this with rest stops as well, but those are a different story… that I highly recommend by the way. Anyway, THE BARGAIN sits at over 250 pages, and I binge read the hell out of it in maybe a day and a half? I believe it was less. I couldn’t turn the pages on my Kindle fast enough. And this was a book I made sure to get a signed physical copy of when I was at Scares That Cares in Virginia this year.

If you’re a fan of Southern backwoods, witches, Greek Mythology, folklore, Eric Butler in general, or receiving a thumbs up on your posts… I HIGHLY recommend this book! Easy five stars and one I foresee making my top reads of 2026 list!

SYNOPSIS:

From the author of The Pope Lick Massacre, The Rest Stop series, & The Shadow Within comes his next tale of terror.

Seventeen years ago, Zeke made a deal with Mama Faye.

A deal that provided his barren sister with the baby she always wanted.

In exchange, on the girl’s seventeenth birthday, she will be wed to Mama Faye’s beloved son.

Now desperate to save her daughter from a fate worse than death, Zelma strikes a new bargain …

And all it will cost is her humanity.

"The Bargain is a tense, folkloric horror story that blends Appalachian gothic vibes with modern dread. Relentlessly tense from the very start, Butler introduces an escalating horror that climaxes into a savage confrontation that is as emotionally devastating as it is terrifying. One of Butler's best so far." - Megan Stockton, author of Pink Neon.

OBSCENE WONDERS OF THE FREAK CIRCUS

by Reekfeel

“Man spurting out of the headhole neck and chin. Oozing in hot over-boiling blood. She screamed his head off. She beat the bully. It is all true. Jam Jitsu. And Lola. And Lola. And Sensei Kim as a ghost now, riding and settling in the ethereal waves. And Lola. And Lola. She vanishes.“

OBSCENE WONDERS OF THE FREAK CIRCUS is absolutely mad! Anything Reekfeel writes is absolutely mad. But wow, this book was awesome! Reekfeel has a very unique writing style, which is something I love and find so unique in this community. I think that this story really makes the writing style stand out in the best ways possible. The characters are awesome. The plot is unique and fun and oddly empowering as hell.

My reviews for Reekfeel tend to be on the shorter side, and that’s simply because my words will never do their words justice. The stories truly speak for themselves. They are so freaking weird, bizarro at its most fun, absurd beyond my imagination, and an absolute ride to read! I can never recommend Reekfeel and OBSCENE WONDERS OF THE FREAK CIRCUS enough! Easy five stars!

SYNOPSIS:

Welcome to the Horror Show. All freaks, all weird. The Lobster Men, the Bird Woman, the Slug Man, the Mole People. And more hideous folk to stare and scream at. But more. But more. A crazy amazing Reekfeel story with plenty of gruesome murders, yummy cannibalism, strange sex and all weird stuff. But still. But still. This is not your average Freak Show story, but Bizarro flippin Horror, and more action than you can crack a whip at. 23,000 words.

PYSCHOTRONIC TORTURE

by Reekfeel

“And she plunges the needle-head into your neck, into your neck-vein. Her laugh as she pushes and floats the button. The injector screams into your neck. The torture begins. Psychotronic Torture. And you fade out to another world…”

PYSCHOTRONIC TORTURE had me in a chokehold from page ONE. The moment I realized it was going in a second-person point of view, I lost my mind with excitement and binge-read the hell out of these stories. Typically, I take my time reading anything Reekfeel writes because of how outlandish and bizarro it is. But this one? I could not stand turning my Kindle off while reading it! The body horror is STRONG with this one!

This entire book and the stories in it are absolutely WILD. Like I said above, second-person point of view. Plus, it’s Reekfeel’s writing. So, right there you can only begin to imagine how unhinged things get. Per usual, I am keeping this one short. Another easy five stars and something I can’t recommend people running to Godless and grabbing enough. I would LOVE to see this one talked about more and see what other people think. Because I would love to see more of this vibe!

THE NIGHT SHE CAME BACK

by Angelique Jordonna

“Her head now rested between her arm and body. Cradled there, peacefully. The lids of her eyes were closed, but her eyes were no longer there. He had removed them when she wouldn't stop staring at him, accusing him of all the horrible things he had done to her, both while alive and dead. Like he was the bad guy, not taking any responsibility for her part in this. Again, just like a woman, always needing to be right.”

THE NIGHT SHE CAME BACK is one of the most diabolical stage five clinger obsession stories I have read in a long time! Like, holy body horror batman. This is definitely one of those if I can't have you then no one can moments… but Angelique Jordonna is the author, so it goes absolutely rogue in the best ways possible!!! Jordonna is one of my favorite female authors in the indie community. Every time I read something by her, I find myself almost instantly messaging her and begging for more! She’s so incredibly talented and this story showcases it. It sits at around 80 pages and, OH. EM. GEE, it is so binge-able!

The characters are done really well, as said above—the body horror goes HARD in this book and even gives us some cannibalism, because I know the extreme-horror readers out there love that! Yet another easy five-star and one that I am keeping short simply because of the synopsis, my small review, and the quote I used speak for themselves. Once you dive in, you’ll be sure to love it and want more, long after you finish! Another fantastic Godless find for the win!

SYNOPSIS:

Obsession.

It's a tough thing for the victim, but sometimes the man obsessed has a tough time of it, too.

Especially when the object of his obsession objects.

Especially when his mistakes...

...come back to haunt him.
