Happy Saturday! Today’s set of reviews is probably my most diverse yet, and the most fun I have had both reading and reviewing. These four books are all very different, but they all have something in common—they're all easy five stars, and standout reads for the horror community in general. Enjoy!

HORSEFLY

by Aron Beauregard

“But his bravado quickly dissolved when he saw the army of tiny, illuminated horseflies swarming under the door. As the winged vampires rushed toward him, he screamed. The countless glowing bodies sprung upon him, relentless with their aggression. The pangs of pain stabbed into his face and the rest of his body, each bite causing a burning sensation to surge deep into his tissue.”

HORSEFLY offers hands down the most unique reading experience I have ever had. It’s an Immersive Entertainment Experience, which is wild to even say, but welcome to 2026! HORSEFLY is not only a fantastic and fast-paced story that feels like you’re reading/watching a movie, but it’s also filled with illustrations and QR codes that link you to videos/story scenes/bonus content. It’s actually quite amazing and again, the most unique reading experience ever.

I saw Beauregard make a post about how, despite being fast-paced and good for a reader who may have a shorter attention span, without relinquishing an actual story, and he’s one hundred percent correct about that. It still holds true to what you’d expect from an unhinged tale but offers way more than I could have imagined! It’s heavy dialogue, but Beauregard executes it beautifully. It’s also pretty damn brutal, depraved, and unhinged… in the best ways possible.

Aron Beauregard is a big name in this community for a reason. This book is just another example of why. I could write a ten-page essay on this book and its uniqueness, etc., but realistically, the author and his books speak for themselves, so a lengthy post isn’t even needed.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

SYNOPSIS:

CAREFUL, SHE BITES!

Zach and LeeAnn have agreed to an unorthodox adventure. They plan on meeting with some open-minded friends in an isolated forest and testing the foundation of their relationship. But unbeknownst to them, their romantic bond isn’t the only thing that will be challenged. The monstrosity lurking in the woods will test their courage, resilience, and will to survive.

Fueled by steroids, infected with a lab-conjured disease, and hampered by bizarre side effects, the horsefly roams. A fiery internal rage and insatiable lust for blood control her every move. But while the horsefly tries to work through her bodily changes, she is haunted by existential questions. Why was she chosen to usher forth the evolution of her species? And why does her addictive urge to slaughter and feast push her far beyond the spectrum of her appetite?

Horsefly is an Immersive Entertainment Experience. It contains over 11 minutes of complementary animated video and 15 interior illustrations. The videos are designed to give the reader a window into some of the book’s nastiest scenes.

QUICKSILVER GIRL

by Carter Johnson

“At home, Dani had to wear a mask of conformity, of normality. At school, she had to wear a similar mask. Each day was more exhausting than the last. The masks drained her, zapping her desire to be herself.”

QUICK SILVER GIRL was a book that I went into blind and ended up being blown away in the best ways possible with the outcome! This story was fantastic in all the ways. I especially love it when I think a book is going to go one way, and then BOOM, it switches right up on me and brings me on a whole different ride than I expected. That’s exactly what Johnson did here, for me at least.

This isn’t a long book. It’s under 200 pages, but it offers a ton. The representation within the character lineup is FANTASTIC. Their development is PHENOMENAL. The vibe and overall tone? Also, top tier. Carter isn’t a new-to-me author, but he’s definitely someone who I would love to be talked about more and someone I definitely need to read more of because I truly was blown away by the storytelling in this book.

There really isn’t anyone I wouldn’t recommend this book to, and I really hope people take a chance on it and give it a read because it really does deserve all the hype! It’s available on both Godless and Amazon, so you know what to do!

SYNOPSIS:

It’s small town America in 1995, and Dani Bannon knows she’s different. Her mother and stepfather punish her for it, but her found family and her girlfriend, JC, support and protect her. After a night of partying turns into a nightmare, Dani and JC must survive long enough to find the monstrosity and kill it. The only problem is, that monster may be closer than it appears … but JC holds a secret that could save both of their lives.

GODSTOPPER: THE COMPLETE BLASPHEMY

by Kevin Sweeney

“Heaven doesn’t want to know them because of the blood on their hands, and Hell can’t accept them because those red palms weren’t earned consciously.”

“What was revealed underneath was something that looked like what would be born if an elephant had fucked a crab, a pure nightmare from one of the lowest levels of the Abyss. Even gave me the fucking willies.”

“Fuck a duck.

Fuck all the fucking ducks.

The swans too."

“A Godstoppers main goal in this situation is to either cock block the Divine, or, should the paradisiacal parasite make it to full term, do a Herod. But then you’ve got those situations where some mortal dickhead reckons they’ll have a crack at bringing the Creator back to life.”

Did I really use multiple quotes to start this review? Yes, yes, I did. When it comes to Kevin Sweeney, you never know what you’re going to get, but you can always guarantee it’s going to be bizarre as hell and amazing as hell. Thus, I needed to provide a range of what you will be getting yourself into if you decide to read this gem.

GODSTOPPER: THE COMPLETE BLASPHEMY is one of those books that, even as typing it, I chuckled to myself because I know even attempting to describe it is nearly impossible. It’s unhinged. It’s so bizarre. I will be walking around for the rest of my life saying certain phrases about ducks. And I loved every second of it. It’s a decent size, which I adore because Sweeney is an author I could read all day long and be perfectly satisfied with.

Between my quotes and the synopsis, I think you can get a little bit of a taste of what this book has to offer… aka: everything. And I cannot recommend it enough. It’s available on Godless now, and I truly implore you to go grab it so we can have many discussions!

SYNOPSIS:

The slaughter of angels and the mass murder of Messiahs are just in a day’s work for the devilish duo called Toccata and Fugue.

He is a foul mouthed Cockney sociopath…

She is a cannibalistic cartoon from the afterlife of the insane…

Together they are GODSTOPPERS, Satanic exorcists dedicated to desecration, damnation, and the destruction of Paradise… with a few dark laughs along the way.

These are their adventures.

MOLKA

by Monika Kim

molka: the Korean term for hidden or miniature spy cameras secretly and illegally installed, often to capture voyeuristic images and videos. Molka is an abbreviation of molrae-kamera, which means a sneaky camera.

"You’re a balding goatfucker, and I hope you die in your sleep."

"For months we have tried desperately to seek justice for my sister, only to meet obstacles at every turn. One thing I have learned from this experience is that there is no help at all from the government. Every single day, thousands of women have their most vulnerable moments posted anonymously on the internet. The criminals who plant these cameras are impossible to find, disappearing into thin air at the first sign of suspicion. And even if they are caught, like in my sister’s case, the justice system gives them a pass."

This book is not just about voyeurism, however; it explores power dynamics, exploitation, and the sexualizing of women and girls, as well as how technology can magnify harms and blur our understandings of privacy and consent. At the same time, the story should not make you lose hope. Molka is about the resilience of women, about how we resist and reclaim our dignity, and perhaps most importantly about female solidarity. Even in these troubling times, we have each other. And that means we always have hope.

Wow. What a standout novel. I can clearly see why this is such a highly anticipated release. MOLKA is definitely going to be one of my top reads of the year, and I think a lot of other people will be saying the same thing.

This was my first read by Kim, and I immediately went and bought THE EYES ARE THE BEST PART as soon as I finished this one. The writing style is beyond intoxicating. The storyline is brutal and beautiful. The characters are incredible. The vibe and tone are perfection. This book is genuinely brilliant in all the ways.

Sitting around 300 pages, I found myself reading this in two sittings; that’s how much this book had me in a chokehold. The real heartbreak of this book is how many people, especially women, will be able to relate to the darkness in it. And it hits hard. Really hard. But the payoff is worth every second because OH EM GEE.

I decided to use a couple of quotes along with some of the author’s notes in this review because I really wanted people to get a feel of what they would be getting themselves into, and I really think the message needs to be screamed from the mountains. It actually pains me to even say that, but it’s true. And as I said above, Kim took on the subject in a brilliant manner.

I typically don’t read other reviews before I write my own, but I saw that this one already had THOUSANDS and wanted to see if the other readers were thinking the same as me, and to my pleasant surprise, they absolutely are. It has a slow burn pace at the beginning, then it picks up like no other. It’s graphic and psychologically terrifying. I cannot recommend this book enough, and I cannot wait to see the world talking about the book and everything it stands for.

SYNOPSIS:

From the award-winning author of The Eyes Are the Best Part, praised by The New York Times Book Review as “violent, smart, gruesome and wildly original,” a provocative journey into a perilous world of voyeurism, scandal, female rage, and vengeance . . . pursued with a very sharp kitchen knife.

Molka: an abbreviation of molrae-kamera, a “sneaky camera” hidden to capture covert images and videos for voyeurs.

In an unassuming Seoul workplace, IT technician Junyoung’s network reaches throughout the entire building. He sees every entrance. Every lobby. Every bathroom. The women in this building may be cold and dismissive, but he can always pull up his favorite images of them and remember who holds the real power. Until one, Dahye, sets herself apart from the rest.

Dahye, ever the romantic, yearns to be cherished after years of living in the shadow of her perfect older sister, who tragically drowned years ago. Only her boyfriend seems to appreciate Dahye. He’s rich, handsome, and generous—and she’d do anything to hold on to the happiness he brings her.

But when a hidden camera scandal rocks the city’s elites, Dahye’s dreams of a fairy-tale romance twist into a grotesque nightmare. Her boyfriend abandons her. Her parents reject her. Her grip on reality begins to shatter as visions of her dead sister suddenly appear. And as Junyoung’s interest in Dahye turns to obsession, and the truths of their troubled lives are revealed, Dahye must go to extreme lengths to bring the truth to light . . .
