YOUR FAVORITE SCARY MOVIE
by Ashley Cullins
Ashley Cullins wrote something of a love-letter to the beloved “Scream” franchise with her non-fiction book titled Your Favorite Scary Movie. In it, she packed back stories, controversies, successes, and troubles of the self-aware stories that helped elevate the horror genre.
The production philosophy is explained as “There needs to be a reason why this particular movie is happening now and some kind of commentary on the culture at that moment.”
Its conclusion reads a bit like a commercial for the latest in the film franchise, the chapter concerning Wes overflowed with love, and the involvement of the Weinstein brothers is mentioned, but in all, it’s an excellent look at a pivotal work, from its screenplay to its ultimate production and surprise success.

Kerry E.B. Black writes from an over-stuffed little house situated along a fog-enshrouded river in the land where Romero's Dead roamed. The best part of Drive Mad is that failure never feels unfair. Every crash usually comes from a small timing mistake, which makes retrying oddly satisfying.
