Besu Tadesse is back with another horror game review! This week, he brings us his thoughts on Final Sentence, a game perfect for all those horror writers out there!

Released in April 2026, Final Sentence is a battle royale, competitive horror game, developed by Button Mash and published by Polden Publishing. You play as one of several identical, unnamed writers that must transcribe scripts before you are murdered by mysterious individuals for your failure to type.

The gameplay is extremely simple – you must transcribe what you have been given using the keyboard in front of you, as represented by an in-game typewriter. There are three modes: battle royale (forty players in a room, the one who makes it to the end wins), knockout (eight players in a room, last place knocked out of each round until one remains), and duel (two players head-to-head), as well as customizable games. In each round, you wake up in front of a typewriter with a person dressed in a hat, mask, and leather trench coat while brandishing a revolver. As you type, a buildup of errors will lead to a Russian roulette, where the mysterious person chambers a bullet and fires at your head.

The game is very engaging. As you progress through the game, the types of transcripts change. At times, you may have to transcribe binary code (0 and 1) in long strings. Sometimes, words become increasingly complex from sentence to sentence. At one point, you are given classical literature, text about video game lore, l33t (leetspeak, which was rather difficult), and even prompts with negative reviews for the early version of the game. But as you continue from round to round, it becomes clear that there is something even darker.

You are fed transcripts that appear to dig into the writer’s psyche, each piece leaning toward the pain and anguish of this sad sack of a writer, full of regrets and references to a simpler, more carefree time. Combined with the ominous atmosphere, I was happy with this game. Plus, it works as a great trainer for typing and getting into a writing mindset.

If you’re a writer and you like horror games this is perfect for you. Relax, and watch those errors. Enjoy!
