NICK ROBERTS AND THE EXORCIST’S HOUSE TAKEOVER — EXCLUSIVELY ON UNCOMFORTABLY DARK!
Happy Friday! Today, I take on The Exorcist’s House universe that Nick Roberts has crafted into three amazing books, and it can only be found here, on the Uncomfortably Dark site.
Funny story before we start, when I first entered the indie horror community, The Exorcist’s House was one of the first books I read. It was also the first signed copy I bought from an indie author. I’ve met Nick, interacted with him many times… and I don’t think he even knows that little fun fact. Or the time I fell for the scam bot and had my credit card taken for over $100, lol. Ah, to be new again.
Anyway, I was lucky enough to get an ARC of the newest installment in The Exorcist’s House journey, so I decided to go back and revisit the other ones. And damn, I know it’s been a while since I read the other two, and I’m embarrassed to admit this… but I think I almost forgot how well these books are written, and how the plots are unmatched… not to mention they are just damn good stories!
So, without further ado, let’s dive into these gems and then talk about the newest one that releases today.
THE EXORCIST’S HOUSE
I read this for the first time towards the end of 2023. I remember being surprised that this author wasn’t already signed to a big publishing deal, never mind shocked that he was easily accessible to interact with etc. And kind! Nick is very kind!
The first book was published in May of 2022 and sits just under 300 pages.
What's it about?
A family moves to a farmhouse in the Appalachians and discovers a hidden room with a well, leading to a horrifying encounter with demonic possession and exorcism.
Who is it for?
This 1990s horror novel is perfect for fans of family thriller books, stories of demonic possession, exorcism fiction, the occult, or thrillers like The Exorcist, A Head Full of Ghosts, and The Amityville Horror.

THE EXORCIST’S HOUSE: GENESIS
This one released in September 2024 and is just over 300 pages.
What’s it about?
A dual timeline horror story following amateur exorcist Merle Blatty (who we meet in the first book) investigating a 1967 murder, while in 1997, the Hill family faces new terrors when Daniel's brother plans to exploit their haunted past. By alternating past and present narratives, The Exorcist's House: Genesis is a multi-generational odyssey through Hell, giving birth to a new breed of horror.
Who is it for?
Fans of classic supernatural horror will find echoes of The Exorcist and Rosemary's Baby in this chilling tale. If you're drawn to the eerie atmospheres of authors like Paul Tremblay and Robert R. McCammon, or the unsettling narratives of Adam Nevill, Felix Blackwell, and Clive Barker, then The Exorcist's House: Genesis promises to haunt your dreams and twist your perceptions.

THE EXORCIST’S HOUSE: RESURRECTION
This is the newest book in the trilogy that has been released TODAY. This one is around 300 pages… and I binge read it in just two sittings. This book was WILD. This was an utter and complete descent into absolute madness in so many ways. A mother’s descent into madness. Hell, an entire family’s descent into madness. Every single time I thought I knew what was coming next, I was thrown for a plot twist and a half.
I tend not to find many books scary. I can’t do a jump scare movie to save my life, but it’s hard for me to classify a book as scary. That being said, this book is damn scary. I had chills on the back of my neck, type scary. The way Roberts told this story made it so that I felt like I could literally hear the demonic possessions taking place. And the ending? Oh, my goodness, that ending. I think I stared at the wall in silence for a solid 7 minutes in disbelief over what I had read. This book has easily landed a spot in my top 5 reads of 2025.
I must implore everyone to read this series. It’s really remarkable. Truly.
