DEVIL'S FOOD CAKE

By Archer Black

"Betty walked into the new bakery like she owned that mother fucker. And…ok, so maybe she did own that mother fucker, but she still walks around like she’s the dessert queen of the world."

I am not positive what I expected with this one, but it wasn't what I thought, lol. This was my first time reading something by Archer Black but it definitely won't be the last!! When I go on Godless, many times this is exactly what I am looking for. A binge in one sitting, super gnarly gross-out... and that's exactly what DEVIL'S FOOD CAKE gives!

Anyway, Betty is a terrible person, and this is another fantastic example of FAFO. And it's absolutely foul to the max. Truly, lol. It got quite a few chuckles, quite a few gags, and it's definitely memorable! There's a reason it's consistently been in the top 10 on Godless!! Grab it using the link below!

Synopsis:

Betty is a sweet shop owner, determined to be the best, she takes extreme measures. Betty isn't what she seems though, she's not a very good person, and karma catches up to her.

SQUIRMING ALL THE WAY UP

By Joey Powell

"‘And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night forever … and ever …’ Make no mistake, his deceit is the work of the devil.”

Okay! I loved this one! I wasn't sure how worms and religious horror would go, but it went DAMN WELL!! This is the book for those who love reading about cults, spiritual trauma, religious horror, etc. Powell does an awesome job with the characters, and I really loved this writing style. This is another "new to me" author, and I now feel compelled to binge-read all of his work. Yeah, it's like that!

This is a nice, girthy story, but I also don't want to give too much away, especially with the synopsis below. But I HIGHLY recommend this book, it's definitely on my Top Godless Reads of 2025 list!

Synopsis:

After their mother dies, Joe and Anthony Sanderson reunite in rural Virginia to reconcile the events that tore them apart years ago. For Joe, it’s a chance to indoctrinate his brother into the Fellowship of the First Divine. For Anthony, an investigative journalist, it’s an opportunity to exploit a Christian White Nationalist cult. Unbeknownst to either of them, an ancient being lurking underneath the town has insidious plans for them both.

MORE USEFUL WORDS FOR USELESS PEOPLE

By Royal Poff

I read you between Kafka’s lines

and worshiped you all the same

heard your voice echo within Hozier’s ballads

soothing and tranquil standing as a grace of God

To me, you have always been poetry

an ax driven directly from my rock bottom

Well, this book ruined my entire life... twice. Once when I read it, and again now while I write this review. Royal Puff takes you on a hellacious ride of the brain and emotions, plus everything in between... whether you want to or not... and it is freaking BEAUTIFUL. I have NO idea why this poetry collection isn't being talked about more.

It's raw. It's passionate. It's horrifying. It's sad. It's tragic. It's confusing. It's ugly. It's beautiful. It's EVERYTHING and more.

I recommend this to every person who has ever existed! Easily my top poetry collection of 2025.

Synopsis:

This is where my soul leaves me, deaf and blind. Trudging through years of scars, love, addiction, devotion.

This is where I leave you, at the crossroads of self discovery. Bleeding through all that is me to create all that can be you.

An incredible hollow man, a useful tool for useless men.

THE CUCK CHAIR

By Stuart Bray, Jason Nickey, and Dan Shrader

Introduction by R.J. Benetti

THE CUCK CHAIR. Well, between the title of this short story collection and the authors that are on the cover, one can only assume that things are about to get a little wild. And wild they got!!

I loved this collection! The boys really showed up for the assignment here and produced some fantastic short stories. All of them are super different, but all of them hold true to the author who wrote them. These are definitely some of my favorite short stories that they have all written.

The synopsis does a good enough job that I'm not willing to go into detail so as not to give anything away. But I will leave you with my favorite quotes from each story, or at least the ones I deemed appropriate enough to post. Grab this gem on Godless now. OR if you happen to be at TBR this weekend, you can get an exclusive signed paperback!

INTRODUCTION

By R.J. Benettiread

"These three authors are at the height of their game. Their style, their imagination, and their narrative ability are on full display here, and full display is perfect for a voyeur like myself."

It isn't often that I speak on an introduction in a review. But Benetti really nailed it on this. One of the best introductions I have ever ready, truly.

SHARED DESIRES

By Jason Nickey

“It’s just, I was listening to this podcast the other day. They had interviewed different couples and asked them some questions about each other. One of the questions being ‘Is there a secret turn-on or fetish you haven’t told your partner about?’

THE LAST DANCE OF SCARLET JADE

By Stuart Bray

“I want to see that plump little ass of yours bouncing like a beach ball, but it’s going to take a lot more than a butt and a nut to change my mind about taking you apart piece by piece.”

KINK SOCIETY

By Dan Shrader

"Billy let out a breath he hadn’t realized he was holding."

Synopsis:

3 Stories of Filth and Cuckery. A Taboo to some. A Throne to many.

The Last Dance of Scarlet Jade by Stuart Bray: Mobsters and insanity take a twisting turn in this story as we revisit moon city. What knd of cuckery unfolds in a motel room?

Kink Society by Dan Shrader: Sex ads are all Billy has now that momma died. Calling one up leads him down a dark and sexually charged path.

Shared Desires by Jason Nickey: What if you had a sexual secret that you finally wanted to reveaL to your spouse? Are you really a ride or die?

ONE FRIGHT ONLY

By Patrick Tumblety

"The dark, splattered eyes of the pumpkin’s bright, seemingly disembodied head turn towards her. She pushes onto her feet and flees as fast as her perforated body will allow, pivoting in and out of adjacent rows in hopes of confusing…

But who is attacking her?"

I LOVED this book! To be fully transparent, I was never really into books that revolved around holidays. I have no idea why. Just wasn’t my jam. That being said, over the last year or so, that has completely changed, and I am so glad; otherwise, I would have missed out on this gem.

This is quite literally the PERFECT read for spooky season/Halloween. Tumblety is a hell of a writer, and it shows in this book. The characters were great. The plot was 10/10. The vibe and overall tone were exactly what the story needed. The ending was FABULOUS.

This is really one of those books that’s just really well-rounded from cover to cover. I cannot rave about it enough. Which means that yes, I cannot recommend it enough either! To all horror readers!
