10/27/2026 - Danielle’s Dark Corners

It's been a while since we've done this. So, let's skip the foreplay and just get right into it.
If all goes well then perhaps I'll see you next Tuesday for another round. *hehe*

13 KISSES by PJ Verfall
“She had become some kind of weird shape-shifter, able to move her flesh as she needed it, on a whim. She wanted her revenge for what had been done to her, and it was like hell, or wherever the demon who raped her had come from, had provided her just what she’d need to get the job done. But why?”
Verfall has quickly become an author who I can binge-read the hell out of. Each time I open my Kindle to something of his, I find myself in a total chokehold until the last page. 13 KISSES is my new favorite by him and is perfect given the less than ideal social climate happening in the world. FEMININE RAGE ANYONE?!?! (and yes, for a man, Verfall nailed the revenge seeking, badass FMC) - Ok, the review...
Splatterpunk and Extreme Horror have shaped who I am as a reviewer. This year I have found myself drifting away from the genre but luckily Verfall came out with an absolute show stopper exactly when I needed it without knowing it was what I needed. Verfall’s proven to be a pro at curating full-length novels within the splatter/extreme realm deserve all the recognition and all the praise. 13 KISSES has restored my enthusiasm and represents the kind of work I hope to see more of from more authors in the community.
*This book is a true Splatterpunk with Extreme Horror elements from start to finish. It is relentless and brutal in all the best ways possible but I need to put a little FYI out there so no one can say they weren’t warned by me, lol.
13 KISSES is a book I like to describe as “smart splatter,” a term I use when a Splatterpunk book can keep the wheels in my brain turning, has substance that matters, and still has scenes where I contemplate my entire existence. 13 KISSES also has one hell of an FMC, and she is a character who will live rent-free in my head for a very long time. 10/10. I was air punching while reading certain scenes!
Verfall once compared the book’s vibe to the movie I Spit on Your Grave, and after finishing it, I found the comparison superbly accurate! I cannot praise this book and Verfall’s writing style, etc., more if I tried. So yes, I recommend it. I recommend the hell out of it! Not only was it an easy five-star read for me, but it’s likely to be for many others as well.

Horrific Scribes Presents:
EXTREMELY WEIRD SPLATTER
It’s been quite some time since I took a dive into an anthology, but when I saw the author lineup for this one, there was no way I could pass it up. Impressed doesn’t even begin to explain how I feel about this book. From cover to cover this anthology is one of the most well curated books I’ve read. The introductions were both fantastic, I specifically loved how Cooper took each story and author one by one, giving them praise and touching on the story they did for this anthology. Yeah, I’m praising the INTRO/FORWARD which I don’t think I've ever done, because it was that good.
So if the intro impressed me the way it did, then you can only imagine the stories. Let’s just say that the title couldn’t be more accurate. These stories, every single one of them, is extremely freaking weird splatter. If you asked me to choose my favorite(s), we would be here all day because every single author went above and beyond with their stories and they were all absolutely amazing... and weird… extremely weird.
You really get a mixed bag with this. If you’re a fan of Splatterpunk and/or Extreme Horror, then I implore you to get your hands on this asap. There’s more than one story for every type of reader and I’d be shocked if people didn’t genuinely enjoy all of them at some level. I may even be so bold to say that this may be my top anthology for 2026.
EXTREMELY WEIRD SPLATTER is available now on Godless and will be available on Amazon October 29th but is available for preorder now! (links for both below)
SYNOPSIS:
For this book, weird horror isn’t weird enough, and the extreme needs to be more extreme: the nineteen stories in Extremely Weird Splatter take the “quiet” respectability that characterizes a lot of weird fiction these days and fuses it with the elsewhere typically grounded—but very loud—transgressions of the extreme and splatterpunk. The results are messy, fantastic, and nineteen kinds of bizarre and disturbing.
Join three Lifetime Achievement Award winners from the top of the horror game along with other decorated veteran authors, rising stars, and emerging talents in deep depravity as skin peels, eyeballs pop, innards become outards, and sex involves… twists… you’ll have to see for yourself.
The authors plotting against your wellness are a coalition from different parts of the US and UK as well as from Canada, Costa Rica, India, Ireland, Italy, and Nigeria: Nick Badot, L. TRAD WIFE by Saratoga Schaefer
It isn't often that I put up a review on a traditionally published book but WOW, this book was actually incredible! TRAD WIFE is one of those books that I wish I could erase from my memory and read for the first time again.
This book seemed to hit especially hard given the world we live in and how there's many women who seek to be that traditional housewife, and to each their own, but when it comes to this story? Whewwwww, all hell breaks loose and i was living for it!!!
This has all the elements you would expect just by the cover and title. Young housewife, seemingly handsome husband who is actually a total dick, the housewife is a social media influencer and she desperately wants a baby so when what she believes to be angel comes to visit her and grant her wish... well you know what they say, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
HIGHLY reccomend this book to any and all horror readers. 10/10.

SYNOPSIS:
Every #tradwife needs a baby. She’ll get one at any cost.
When Camille Deming isn’t cooking, cleaning, or homesteading in her picture-perfect country farmhouse, she’s posting about her tradwife lifestyle for her online followers. She takes inspiration from other tradwives on social media, aspiring to be like them, but Camille’s missing a key component: a baby. And contrary to what she posts online, things with her husband, Graham, have been strained. Pressured by her eager followers, Camille fears that without a baby, her relationship will suffer and her social media will never grow out of its infancy.
When Camille discovers a mysterious, decrepit well in the wheatfield behind her house, she makes a wish for a baby. Afterward, she has unsettling experiences that she convinces herself are angelic in nature, and when she’s visited one night by a strange creature, her wish comes true.
Camille’s pregnancy announcement gets more engagement than anything she’s ever posted—so what if Graham’s reaction is lukewarm? Camille’s life is finally falling into place. Never mind that her pregnancy is developing freakishly rapidly and she’s suddenly craving raw meat. Being a traditional wife is worth it.
Rosemary’s Baby for the digital age, this disturbing horror novel is one you’ll want to devour in just one bite.
