11-5-2026 Latham's Last Words: Sick by Christa Wojciechowski

Welcome to Latham's Last Words where I talk about books that I've enjoyed. Today is Sick by Christa Wojciechow
"Every person on the planet is twisted in his own way. We stuff our shadow side down. Most of us hide it so deep that we can convince ourselves it doesn't exist, while it gestates like a mutant embryo."
Disturbing, shocking, traumatic and informative, this story of Factitious disorder imposed on self, formerly Munchausen syndrome, will take you deep into the mind of a troubled man and the woman who loves him.
Both John and Susan are characters I would gladly never encounter again. I was comfortable in my abhorrence of them. I was content to pity them. But then there was a turn and I found myself crying so hard I could barely read the last few pages.
This is an uncomfortable read and I will never pick this book up again. And to me, it makes the book worthy of way more than 5 stars.
