12/04/2025 - KILLERCON 2026 INFO & THE SPLATTERPUNK AWARDS

There have been a lot of questions about KillerCon Austin and the Splatterpunk Awards as to how it works, so please see below.

KILLERCON 2026 INFO & THE SPLATTERPUNK AWARDS:

Individuals send in their personal recommendations for each category from books they have read over the year.

This is not an invitation for publishers to send a list of the books they published and say, "Hey, put all these in for nomination". but rather for readers to say, "This book kicked my ass and should be nominated."

Authors CAN nominate themselves if they feel they deserve the nomination. No shade on that.

The books that have the greatest number of recommendations from the greatest number of people are chosen as the nominees.

Once the nominees are chosen, those books are sent to the panel of judges who determine who the winner for each category is.

The best way to seek a nomination is to remind people HOW to submit a nomination, and then remind people that you have eligible books and which categories those books are eligible for.

The categories are:

• Best Novel

• Best Novella

• Best Collection

• Best Anthology

• Best Short Story
