Hey folks!

Back again with another Book Brawl review. This time we are going to delve into a little coming-of-age horror with….

Down into the Sea

By: Dan Franklin

There's a little fishing town in Massachusetts that Eric Ross calls home. His father is in prison, and his mother is an addict. 14-year-old Eric isn't the most popular kid in town. Bullied and abused, he feels like he won't ever escape his loneliness or the town.

Until one day, while he is at the local entertainment pier, out of the water, a girl appears.

And everything changes.

Unfortunately this one fell flat for me. While there was some good character development, some of the characters lacked depth, and the story itself was ok but a bit predictable. While this one didn't do it for me, it doesn't deter me from giving his other titles a shot. If you are looking for a coming-of-age tale with a mermaid, give it a go!
