Welcome to Latham's Last Words, where I give you my last words on books I've enjoyed. It's Pride Month so let's talk about We're Here from Gloom House Press!

"Even in fiction, we live our truths."

If there was ever a tag line that perfectly described a book, this would be the one.

A group of insanely talented LGBTQIA authors came together to create an anthology full of persecution, assault, revenge, love, hope and living your truth.

It's very hard to pick a favorite. Here are some that stood out.

The Parachute by Evan J. Peterson was the only story to make me go "what the heck did I just read??"

She Tasted Of Good Fortune by Hailey Piper gave me a crime noir type vibe. It was tugged at my heart.

The Denouement of Freeze-Dried Coffee by Sumiko Saulson is a dystopian type story that was bittersweet.

She Was The First by Angelique Jordonna there's no way I couldn't not love this, Dani is one of my favorite characters ever.

Trauma by Jason Lavelle almost had me stop reading. I could feel something bad was going to happen. This story also includes an important massage from the author.

Endless, He Said by Anton Cancre was one of the best zombie apocalypse stories I have ever read.

Take Me To Church by Dan B Fierce made me kick my feet with glee when Gerald joined forces with the Satanic unicorn to get revenge on the staff of a conversion camp.

All the stories are amazing. All the authors lived their truth through fiction. They will terrify you and make you think.

I also want to mention that all proceeds from the sale of We're Here go to The Trevor Project!
