It's Pride Month and I've gathered some interviews with some amazing LGBTQIA+ authors which I will be posting throughout the month.
Somehow, Izzy landed on my Instagram feed and I was instantly drawn to her work. I became an instant fan after reading Dandy Among The Dead and I am hooked on her unique way of telling a zompoc story.

Tell us a little about yourself.
I am a Texas woman of transgender experience. I have two amzing kids and married my best friend. I have been a lover of all things horror my entire life. I am a huge fan of George A Romero and credit him as the person who influences me the most.
How important do you think queer representation in horror is?
Representation for queer people is fundamental to eroding homophobia. It breaks down fear and misunderstanding. It erodes stereotypes. Horror, more than any other genre, is flexible enough to explore identity and trauma in an honest way.
Tell us about your most recent release, or an upcoming release.
My newest novel DIED released on April 28, 2026.
It’s a brutal, bleak take on the undead. It’s less about survival and more about what’s left of a person as everything is stripped away. It leans into horror, but at its core it’s deeply human. It’s about addiction, depression, and what happens when death is taken away.
I also have a book coming out on June 6th, called Six is My Name. Another bleak story, this time a coming of age tale
Which character you've created is your favorite and why?
Cyndi from Six Is My Name. She is such a kind and gentle person who is surrounded by horrible, abusive people. Cyndi learns how to live in that world.
