Today's breakdown is for the audiobook of "Monsters Of Mt. Hope" by John Ward:
John Ward's Scareville books will be placed in the annuals of Horror history one day, watch and see. I liked this third entry, but it didn't grip me as much as the first two. I think I wanted more Monster action maybe, unsure why I felt a disconnection, but it was still enjoyable for me. I loved that it started out in Kansas City as I am a frequent resident there. There was a bully subplot that featured a red-haired kid named Nick, which was an interesting parallel to a portion of my childhood, so that was neat. I think the themes aside from the scares will be of importance in the lives of young readers. Above all, that is a reason to support this series if you're not already. I look forward to giving my time to the next installment!
The audio portion of this was narrated by Dylan J. Holt who returned to do a good job of bringing the story to life. I found some of the voice used to be humorous, but well suited for the intended audience.
4/5 stars.
