It's Pride Month and I've gathered some interviews with some amazing LGBTQIA+ authors which I will be posting throughout the month.

Phrique is such a great person to be around. His vibes are contagious and you just can't help but smile in his presence.

Tell us a little about yourself.

My name is Phrique, I’m a horror author who specializes in Splatterpunk, bizarro, and dark comedy. I am also an artist. I make a lot of weird/bloody art and design all my covers/merch as well. I grew up questioning my taste/humor, namely because it never seemed to fit in with the norm. It took a while, but I figured out that outside of the norm is where I thrive most! Now I know my lane & strive to be the best little queerdo I know how to be.

How important do you think queer representation in horror is?

I think it is very important and movies/books that don’t have it are doing a disservice to themselves. Before I wrote my first book, I vowed to “write the gayest shit ever,” and it’s become my mission statement! Now I have to gay it up 10x as much to make up for the boring, formulaic b.s. they expect us to gush over. You want something exquisite, avant-garde, and truly unforgettable? Get a gay on your team. We literally make the world a better place & right now, it needs all the help it can get.

Tell us about your most recent release, or an upcoming release.

Curse Me By Your Name is my latest, my office romcom with a body count! It’s a fun little romp about Bloody Mary, doing what she does best. Kill. Kill. Kill. But even the most decorated termination technician at D.I.LF. (Department of Lore Folk) can get in a slump. One day Mary breaks protocol and gets heart eyes for one of her targets…on the clock! Now she’s perplexed. Will she risk her career for a chance with the girl of her screams or stay unfulfilled like the rest of her cryptid/(urban) legendary coworkers?

Which character you've created is your favorite and why?

Uffff, thats a tough one. Off the top of my head, I would have to say…myself. (Not a shock to anyone who knows me.) I co-wrote In the Clurb We’re All Monsters with one of my bestest friends, Asher Dark. It was my first collaboration, but the caveat was we had to write our sides of the story, as ourselves. So when Asher & I (fictionally) both end up dating the bisexual playboy, Dorian Grey and find out while in his club…there’s hell to pay. The characters are very much us, just amped up a bit. I’m nowhere near as fastidious/petty and she’s nowhere near as bawdy/flatulent in real life…I’d like to think. Regardless, my observant eye/razor-sharp tongue is on full display as the shit hits the fan and the disco bloodbath begins to bubble over.

Where can readers find your books?

My lil abominations are all over Amazon, Kindle Unlimited, and Godless, but if you want the full Phrique treatment: www.phrique.bigcartel.com has all my books and the merch. All signed with the stickers, extras that I drew/designed myself as well as my art!

Where can readers follow you on Social Media?

I am @books.by.phrique on all the major platforms or just google “Phrique” for horror as smart as it is stupid. 🖤
