Today's breakdown is for "Cannibal Corpse, M/C" by Tim Curran:
When Brad Tierney tells you to try a book because he knows you're bored with the mundane, you do it. That's what led me to read this and I gotta give it up to Mr. Iron Lungs for the suggestion. This one was about a post-apocalyptic USA in which worms that reanimate the deceased fall from the sky. These aren't your typical Zombies either as they can ride motorcycles and speak and pretty much do anything they could do while living... I like my undead more deadlike personally, but it made this one entertaining nonetheless. We follow an outlaw biker, and eventually the remaining members of his gang, as they head west to the Deadlands. Things get nastier the more west they get and there's some really good descriptions of the brutal landscapes and chaotic scenery of a world in which only destroying the brain ensures death. I enjoyed this one quite a bit, although at times the main characters got a little too unbelievably lucky. The work of Tim Curran now has my attention as it was easy to see his talent explode in these pages like a ghoul's head after taking on John Slaughter. I'll be back soon for more TC content.
4/5 stars.
