BERSERKER GREEN HELL

By: Lee Franklin

If I wasn't familiar with the author I would think that she had served during the Vietnam war. The description of the landscape made me believe she had been there, that she had felt the cloying humidity and oppressive heat. It also brought the story to life, made it feel real. I know the author is also a veteran of the Australian army and you could really tell with her descriptions of battle scenes and familiarity with weapons.

The story didn't go in the direction I was thinking, but it blew me away. I would say more about the story, but I don't want to give anything away.

The main character Pinny is a soldier in the Australian army who is an Aborigine which plays a big part of what happens to him. I was fascinated to read about the Vietnam war from the

ree

perspective of non Americans.

This isn't as extreme as what I'm used to from Franklin, but there are some very brutal scenes throughout.

I had this book on my Kindle for a few years and I'm mad at myself for waiting so long to read it. Definitely a great read if you like military horror and sci-fi horror.
