Today's breakdown is for "Queens Of Death: Blood Reign" from Bludgeoned Girls Press:
The fuse for this explosive Anthology was lit by Eric Butler who brought a terrifying tale about a supernatural entity that lurks in some dangerous woods.
Next up, M Ennenbach told a story about a virus and how the upper class shows its fallacy by handling it, I especially liked how it ended on a very telling note.
Chisto Healy then takes a nice jab at exploiting the misogyny and narcissism of the adult film industry, I liked the tone he took about the subject matter.
Nat Whitson brought a brutal take on a classic, and she did a fine job of doing so.
Tara Losacano then made the Prom much more interesting, as someone who skipped his to watch a Nightmare On Elm Street marathon - I might have went to mine had it turned out like her vision.
Then came a new to me author, Anton Cancre, and unfortunately I didn't care much for this short as it was weird and humorously odd, but if you're into Bizarro styles I think it will go over well. Though it wasn't my thing, I don't think I'll be forgetting the storyline any time soon...
Following this was another new to me name, Kenzie Jennings, who hit on everything I love about cults with a dark telling about one.
Michael R Collins was next in line and his offering was an enjoyably creepy one about a mysterious diner that felt like a strong honorary nod to Rod Serling and The Twilight Zone.
D.A. Latham then dropped an instant classic that made me grin widely, if you are like me and like a good cemetery stroll with your imagination in tow, then you shall find the concept pretty cool.
A spooky tale from Ashley Lister about the thin veil between mercy and revenge came next, I found the theme of this one worthy of provoking some deeper thought afterwards.
Angelique Jordonna served up a scary little number about an old house and its piano that holds a dark secret. Lastly, new to me author
AJ Mullican finished off this fine collection with a camping gone wrong folktale that'll make you glad to stay indoors.
Overall, this was a really great Anthology and I highly recommend it to those looking for something a little different. Every author brought something new to the Royal table and I think it has something every Horror fan can like.
5/5 stars.
