Today's breakdown is for the audiobook of "The Captivating Flame Of Madness" by Jeff Parsons:

I had never heard of the author of this book prior to deciding to give it a shot based off of the title. I had originally thought it was a series of short chapters that were comprising a novel, but the further along I got the more apparent it was that these segments weren't going to connect. While the ideas behind a lot of the stories were strong, some of them felt like mere snippets of a longer work (which is why I assumed they would eventually intersect). Nevertheless, Parsons showed a ton of promise and talent with the imagination and writing style he presented here. I found the collection very enjoyable and interesting, even if some seemed to end abruptly. I'll definitely be circling back to Jeff in the future to see what else his bibliography has available.

The audio portion was narrated by Conner Goff who handled the narration delivery like a true professional.

4/5 stars.
