I ended September with a number of short stories and it was perfect. 3 incredibly different yet equally entertaining reads that I'd love to share with you. These are all quick reads that are easy to get immersed in.

THE REST STOP by Eric Butler

1. I’ll never forgive Butler for this one.

2. At 53 pages you may think ‘how bad can it be?’. Well, heartbreaking actually; thanks for asking. You think I’d be expecting to be absolutely crushed after reading The Pope Lick Massacre but I naïvely wasn’t. This short story is brutal, terrifying, and unputdownable.

Highly recommend!

SOUR CANDY by Kealan Patrick Burke

1. Another short read at 84 pages, this one messed. me. up. Seriously, sometimes a short story or novella hits harder than it has the right to and I’d say this is one of those.

2. I despise going to the dentist, therefore I hate anything having to do with teeth. I also dislike children. This novella has both a creepy kid and tooth stuff, so you’d think I’d dislike it because it’s full of things I don’t like. WRONG. This is like a twisty descent into madness that you keep thinking cannot get worse…and then it does.

3. Every sentence dug poor Phil into a hole he’ll never be able to get out of. The worst part? As you read you start to question if this is actually plausible. Is it a mental decline or is there something more sinister pulling the strings? That question is answered, and the answer is terrifying.

Another Highly Recommend.

THE UNICORN KILLER by Candace Nola

1. This was so much fun!! Feels weird to say that regarding a story about a serial killer, but it’s true.

2. Frank is just looking for a way to cement his name in the annals of history and he just may have found it, unfortunately many people need to die for that to happen. That’s okay, Frank is open to the challenge.

3. Another quick, single-sitting, read that’s gory and hilarious. Perfect for a palate cleanser and a giggle. I seriously loved every second of this!

Highly Recommend!
