COSMIC SHOWDOWN
By: Jeremy Crews
Release: 9/20/25
I have been (not so) patiently waiting for another book from Crews and he did not disappoint me. This is a wild mash up of WWE meets MadMax Beyond Thunderdome meets Soylent Green.
There's nostalgia in the amazing representation of professional wrestling of the 80's. I almost expected Macho Man to come climbing out of the pages. Ohhhh Yeah!! The way Crews wrote the heels and the babyfaces I'd swear that he worked in the professional wrestling industry. You can clearly see the divide and I absolutely loved it. It was great to see the characters in character, then being themselves.
Now the first half is a slow build up to get you familiar with the characters. The second half is a dystopian nightmare for the thousands of people in the Ho-Chunk arena that were transported to another dimension.
Aliens that remind me of those super creepy Sleestacks, a drug that transforms the user into an other worldly force, crushed heads and eyeballs popping out of their sockets, this book will not leave you bored!
Crews has a way with writing a horror story that's just a bit absurd and you expect it to be silly and comedic, but what you get is a story with well fleshed out characters and a ridiculous plot that shouldn't work but for some reason it does, and a story that will make you feel. I can't believe I cried over Scoundrel!
Another hit from this author and I can't wait to see what he comes up with next!
