Rachel Schommer Reviews: 3.3.25

Writer: Rachel SchommerRachel Schommer

This week's review takes 2 of my favorite things - Slashers and Humor - and mashes them together perfectly. Add in the accompanying nostalgia and you have what I would call a must-read!

HORRORS OF THE SHOPPING MALL ASS SLASHER by R.J. Benetti

Ā

1. I freaking adored this book! As a fan of both humor and slashers, this is truly the best of both worlds šŸ˜ŠĀ It had me flying through the pages trying to figure out who the heck the villain was while simultaneously giggling to the point of tears. Oh, and the motley crew of characters was utter perfection!

2. Benetti has a very specific style of writing and each of his works just hones his weird and wonderful brand of horror a little bit more. Iā€™ve truly enjoyed everything Iā€™ve read of his, but this has to be my favorite to date.

3. For anyone old enough to remember ā€˜Mall Cultureā€™ this will feel like a warm embrace. It made me long for the days when getting dropped off at the mall on a Friday night ā€“ or even better, Saturday afternoon, meant spending HOURS walking around, searching for your crush, eating Sbarro and Auntie Anneā€™s, seeing all your friends, and maybe even a concert. Take those memories and wrap them in an episode of Reno 911, sprinkle with a healthy portion of Michael Myers and BAM ā€“ you have the Shopping Mall Ass Slasher.

Ā

This was an absolute delight!
